Is the Dordogne an easy river?

yes! The Dordogne is a category 1 river (scale from 1 to 6) that is to say it is very accessible with a weak or no current! All you need to do is keep an eye out for bridges and uprooted trees along the shoreline. Always prefer a navigation in the centre of the river. On the Dordogne, you can therefore completely practice canoeing for the first time.

Can children canoe ?

Taking the whole family on a canoe down river is a magical experience. Just oneimperative : everybody must be able to swim 25 meters including the children (over 5 only

We will help you get the kids on board, with a life jacket to size. No children under 5 allowed.

For them, it is better that they wear clothes that don’t retain water and that offer protection against sun and cold. n case of a change of weather, bring a windproof jacket, useful to stay warm.

Children get bored fairly quickly if you don’t let them use their curiosity and sens of creativity. Let them participate as much as possible in the adventure, they are part of the crew too

Canoes or Kayaks ?

The canoe is ideal for trekking down the river. You can take a lot of materiel with you , it’s width makes it very stable and it’s length offers both manuability and good slide. You usually use a single paddle.

The (river) kayal is much shorter Slightly less stable it is very easy to manouver and you use a double-sided paddle.

– Our canoes and kayaks are unsinkable. You will leave in priority by two-seater canoes (or 3 places with a child under 10 years old placed in the middle) We will add single-seater kayaks when you are an odd number of participants.
